The Zone Manager is responsible for overseeing Shipping & Receiving operations within an assigned zone at a large multi-campus site.  

Essential Duties and Functions: 

  • Oversee all Campus Lead(s) and Ship Happens location activities within assigned Zone
  • Responsible for all hiring and disciplinary action of employees in assigned Zone
  • Ensures all SLA's and deliverables are met or exceeded
  • Coaching and development of Leads and Associates within assigned Zone
  • Completion of annual reviews for all Leads and Associates within assigned Zone
  • Managing attendance and staffing needs for all Ship Happens locations
  • Oversight of onboarding/training of new employees in all processes
  • Evaluating Routes workload and delegating additional resources as needed
    • Creating time expectations based on route volume
    • Shadowing route delivery associates for performance and possible improvements
    • Assisting or taking over routes/positions in employee absence
  • Ensuring entire team is cross-trained in all Ship Happens functions (Ship Happens Associates only)
  • Maintain open communication with Hines Facility Coordinator/Zone Manager
  • Supply management and process oversight
  • Providing process improvements/ideas to Site Manager for possible implementation
  • Review and close open packages in Bear Tracks for the previous day
  • Cover any other Ship Happens location as needed
  • Ensure all staff is X-Ray certified
  • Hold weekly team meetings
  • Responsible for safety and security of employees work areas
  • Other assignments as assigned by Site Management


  • 3-5 years experience managing an operation of 10+ employees
  • Must have excellent working knowledge of shipping, receiving and logistics services
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills
  • Proven ability to lead a team, provide direction and proactively solve problems and issues as they arise
  • Proven ability to work in a fast paced, high energy environment
  • Ability to identify and communicate process improvements
  • Physical effort is required which may involve long periods of standing, walking, bending, reaching, stretching, climbing or similar activities as well as lifting or moving items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Exceptional leadership expertise and demonstrated track record of creating employee engagement, hiring, retaining and developing staff
  • Ability to build strong internal and external business and customer relationships
  • Excellent analytic, verbal and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite with proficiency in Excel
  • Comfortable with presenting to customers and high levels of management
